Objectives This study investigated the mitigating effect of Yukmijihwang-tang on antral gastritis and duodenitis by regulating gastrin release in mice.
Methods : The normal group comprised mice with no inflammation; the control group comprised mice with ethanol-induced gastroduodenal inflammation. The sample group included inflammation-induced mice treated with Yukmijihwang-tang.
Results: Based on morphology and histochemistry findings, many hemorrhagic erosions were observed in the control group, while significantly fewer erosions were seen in the sample group. Immunohistochemistry findings showed that the distributions of gastrin, substance P, HSP70, NF-¥êB p65, and iNOS were considerably lower in the Yukmijihwang-tang -treated group than in the control group.
Conclusions: The findings suggest that Yukmijihwang-tang has a potent mitigating effect on antral gastritis and duodenitis in mice.
